Tinnitus

Anyone else dealing with it? Kind of makes being an audiophile besides the point.

Me too. My loss is mostly in the mid-range/conversational frequencies. I don't have much invested in this hobby, so I'm not unloading any of my gear and buying a Bose wave radio, yet. Despite all that I'm likely missing, I still think that I can tell the differnce between good sound and bad. Perhaps a blind test would be the best way to sort that out. Don't get me started on eyesight......

Getting old is a bitch. Perhaps a thread on audiophile quality hearing aids is in order?

Roy, it may come to that. Audiophile grade hearing aid, with all silver wiring!

Sounds scary. Could be stress, could be diet. I doubt headphones help much here...

Got sent a link for this the other day - perhaps useful timing.

a solution perhaps?

Thanks, Graz.

I'll look into the book, but there's a wealth of information on the web, and I've just started doing a lot of the things recommended. We'll see if they have an impact over the longer-term. My problem at the moment is not severe - but it's enough to make an audiophile absolutely nuts.

I have also this problem.
I have a constant "hiss" in the 13 000 to 14 000 Hz region.
Sometimes less and sometimes more.
It's like that sound that comes out of old tube TV's.
The one who succeeded was the one who did not know it was impossible!
