Many have sought to discuss rooms in our old AAUG location, and the fact the posts slipped away by date led to a lot of circular discussion. I believe this area would be good for case studies of actual rooms, and asking basic questions. I for one believe I have a lot to learn in this area!

We have several experienced, and one professional expert in this area who own Apogee's - so with a bit of debate I reckon we could all be experiencing better sound.

Looking forward - Graz

Hi Graz
I've made a significant improvement in the last few weeks to the soundstage and imaging of the Duetta Signatures in my c.14 x 29 ft room.
A friend loaned me a pair of quadratic diffusers and I placed them at the first reflection points.
A number of things that always bothered me re placement of instruments, etc have now been resolved and my brain can relax.
it resulted in a much bigger improvement than I think any component has ever made for me (with the exception of getting the speakers restored by Graz).
Really happy now,
Floyd

Hi Christoph,
The diffusors are on the side wall in front of the speakers at the first reflection point (in relation to my listening position)

hi floyd

what kind of diffusers have you placed on the side walls? and how much area have you covered with diffusers?
i take it you used the "mirror procedure" to find the first reflection area from your listening point?

did you use something like this: http://www.rpginc.com/products/skylinelp/index.htm

or like this: http://www.rpginc.com/products/hemiffusorw1/index.htm

have you also tried to place diffusers behind the speakers or intend to try this?

have you also experimented with absorbers? maybe in other positions?

Hi Christoph,
I think these are called quadratic diffusors.
They are 115cm high and 43cm wide, so the height nearly matches the Duettas.
I don't have access to any other sort of room treatment devices such as absorbers.
We tried them together behind the speakers when they were first brought over.
Then, we tried them at very approximately where the first reflection point would be.
Unfortunately there was a ful, heavy CD bookcase that was too close to the speakers so it didn't achieve much.
Later, I moved the CDs behind the speakers and was able to place the diffusors in the correct location and this is when things improved so much.
I did use the mirror method to determine the first reflection point.
Cheers,
Floyd
