Replacing grill cloth

Postby goetzfam on Mon May 16, 2011 11:54 am

I have a pair of minigrands which are still going strong after 20 years. Unfortunately, the black grill cloths are shot. Is there a way to replace these, or does anyone sell replacement covers?

So I guess my real question is whether it is worthwhile to rehabilitate my 20 year old Stage speakers. I am new to this site. My grill cloths are shot and my ribbons are curled at the top and bottom. That and I don't even know if my magnets are aligned correctly. I'd be grateful for some feedback as to the cost/benefit of replacing the ribbons or rehabing the speakers through a repair shop. How easy is it to replace the ribbons on the original Stages (serial #2417)?

Hi Graz: haven't been on here for quite some time. My question again relates to grill fabric which I want to replace. For the longest time, the the only option available as replacement material was quite expensive, sheer black polyester. The original sheer beige polyester material on my custom birds-eye maple Scintilla frames was a perfect match but became ragged with age and needed to be replaced. Black material was/is not a visually satisfactory match, so I experimented with light beige tulle. This looked fabulous but has failed to consistently hold its shape depending on the humidity. So, I wonder what options other than black might be currently available. Best regards, Bill
