My Cat

Postby Al^ on Wed Jan 09, 2013 4:21 pm

She wondered in a couple a yrs ago as a starved kitten, I took her in and looked after her. I was always worried about the Claw and my ribbons, but she never touched them. She always climbed my Acoustat 2+2's and layed on top of them, didn't matter if they were playing or not. But one thing has always bothered me, She prefers to be in a room with ESL's or ribbons when their playing, she doen't like box sound it seems, Also when I listen to the Scintilla's she's by my side or at their base. If she's out and I put on Tori Amos Little Earthquakes she will come in and sit beside me. When Tori starts to sing China she will walk up about 2' away and stand up like she is looking for her. She will not do that with the Diva's or Duetta Sigs, or any other speaker. I suspect she feels a genuine female presense from the sound and is looking for the person to pet her. This may sound extreme, but it's all I can come up with. Yes she's an alright all out Apogee cat. However she like's sleeping on top the Acoustats, which is fine by me. :)

After I replaced my box speakers with Duetta's, my two cats used to always come into my listening room with me and would stay as long as I was playing LPs. As soon as I put on a CD, they were at the door wanting out. Put on LPs and they would be back. Now since I have upgraded from Duetta's to Diva's with custom Xovers, they always come in, but when the music starts, they immediately will start looking for "things", and not in front of the speakers but between the speakers. When they don't succeed in finding anything, they get skittish and soon want out. Not being able to see what they hear seems to upset them most of the time. I think cats can hear the difference of Apogees.

Al,
You would need this to properly populate "Al's Auditorium"

I don't drink too much coffee - you're listening too slowly.

I wonder if one could use a HiFi-Cat to determine the accuracy and sound of components in the system... 8-)
I mean, there ARE dogs that can sniff drugs and deceases! Why not a cat that can point out a well sounding system? :P
The one who succeeded was the one who did not know it was impossible!

Dogs have a much better hearing then you can imagine. Once I played my recorded voice for the dog, and immediately he looked to exactly the spot where I was when I recorded it. He could hear where it was.

They will recognize your car engine, the way you drive and even how you walk.
