Hi Henk,

Do you know how loud he likes playing music, sounds like it would run out of steam?

I'm OK.

It's just that some idiot in a car knocked me off by bike 4 weeks ago,and broke my left collarbone.

But I'm almost back to normal again, all is healing well, so I don't expect any lasting damage.
It did however trash my Paris travel plans....

Wish you all the best with that Henk!

With Apogee isn't it so that it's current that counts, not so much watts?

Mend well Henk

may I enquire, does the mending process makes your chuckle....
30 years ago, I too came off a motorbike (front wheel encountered a loose car headlamp in the road, while I was banked over coming into a roundabout... whoosh) and found that I couldn't stop laughing

after your beautiful work on Apogees, are you tempted to re-model this time
(incorporate shock-absorbing section to the collar bone?)

wishing you Happy Christmas Henk

and to all in our Apogee community

Hi Guys,

Just spent 2 wonderful evenings with:
AudioNote G1000
AudioNote Kagura (pair)
Studer A80
2 refurbished Diva's.

Final verdict: The best apogee sound I have ever heard. And more than loud enough, as a matter of fact I asked for the volume to be turned down a bit on a number of occasions, and I do like to play a bit loud myself, just ask Kees or Stanley:)

I had nothing to add except superlatives. This set-up clearly delivered the most stable, deep and wide image I have ever heard.

How much of this was caused by the Studer? Quite a bit. I never asked what digital stuff was used (we played a number of files using Jriver). One thing was clear: The A80 trounced the digital stuff in all respects. (except noise floor, of course).

He has one recording of the Sacre Du Printemps by Solti which is especially fantastic, so I heard that recording twice:)

On the A80 we exclusively listened to pre-recorded "master" tapes, I've forgotten where he buys them, I do remember it was a small Italian company that specialises in low-volume direct copies of master tapes.

Not really an affordable option (at least not for me!) but I'm very happy to have had this experience.

Ah, those Diva's with all Mundorf Supreme Silver-Gold-Oil caps. Never heard them but I have some imagination. Must have cost a fortune (but peanuts compared to them amps).

If you can playback on a professional tape machine from master tape copies, not much will beat it. Often, consumer audio media has gone to many steps, each transfer opposing a slight loss.
Remember how long ago Kipdent had bought a tape machine and audiophile tapes?

Earlier I have mentioned you can get DSD audio from e.g. Channel Classics which are a straight copy from the master. With the right playback equipment you should have a similar experience.
