Not far from being done... thought fellow Apogeans would probably like a peek.

Media rich report including quite a bit of HD video. Enjoy!

I think Your last comment was hitting the nail, so to speak.
A lot in their design is... well, too flimsy.

A part from that, I really like some of the designs on the amps.
To me it seems that amp builders have a lot of fun and also seem to combine fun with aesthetics and function.
The one who succeeded was the one who did not know it was impossible!

hi justin

thanks for the very detailed summary. after i'm not registered in the ML-forum i answer here...

i have not been to the high end in munich this year but last year i was blown away by the Lansche-Audio Cubus speakers: http://lansche-audio.de/

have you heard the lansche audio cubus yourself? i don't think so because i'm pretty confident that you would have at least mentioned them 8-)

edit: in your thread in posting 114, forth picture, you can see the lansche cubus in the middle. where they just on display and did not sound?

i also listened to the avantgard speakers but didn't like them anywhere near the cubus'ses.

the cubus is in fact the only speaker i know that i maybe would even trade my apogees for :o

maybe because i don't know yet how a completely redone pair of scintillas can sound...

cheers, christoph

ps: when you're near liechtenstein (or austria or switzerland) sometime feel free to contact me for a listen at my place.

Thanks for the feedback Christoph. See post 115 for what Lansche was playing.

Now here's the disappointing bit - I walked in, took the photos, thought the Cubus looked great - and the speakers next to it - and walked out. Why? Didn't hear anything special.

Now that isn't because it was bad - TBH I can't remember the sound in that room... I think it was playing low level when I was there. They could well be very good. You know what it is like at shows. Had I walked in some other time... could be a very different story.

I'd take Trios/basshorns over Apogee Duetta Sigs in an instant - if I had the space for them. I don't. The AudioNecs too - and they are a lot more practical - and 88000 Euros - so maybe not!!!

Thanks for the invite - the same applies here...:)

Justin

Another Cubus pic... almost the same as the first:)
