Curling 26-6 riboon

I have a bit of a curly problem. The ribbons on my Slant 6's are anything but nice and flat these days. I initially suspected exposure to sunlight but they tend to curl up when playing at high levels. Causes? Does not appear to effect sound quality unduly but I am sure new ones would probably be the way to go. These are KLM (version?) ribbons I installed about 6 years ago.
