Which is the better MR . . . .

Just in terms of sound quality, which is better, the MR of the Full Range or the MR of the Grand ? Opinions invited!

I'm no expert by any means, but I would think that it would be hard to separate out just the mid without taking into account the total effect of the whole speaker. The MR might be better in one, but not sound as good if dropped into another model. YMMV

I don’t think I’d agree with that. The frequency range covered by the MR in both cases covers the major part of the musical spectrum. The mid & low bass and treble is distinguishable from that range so for the most part I think its fairly clear what is being covered by the MR when you are listening.

Yes, you are exactly right about the frequencies covered, but the interaction of the bass and treble, and the crossover network also have a large effect on the total sound. The low, mid, and hi, have to blend together smoothly, and with some over lap. Otherwise when you listened you would be hearing 3 separate "speakers", a low, a mid , and a high. Those have to integrate into a single "sound", so that there is no discontinuation. I don't think you would like a speaker that "broke" up the music and didn't sound continuous through out the range as a single piece.

The integration of the 3 drivers is not relevant. I’m talking about the performance of the MR, not how well it is mated to the other 2 drivers.

OK, but why your interest in just the MR driver? And how do you decide it's performance outside of a total speaker. I just don't understand your question, I guess.
Best,
