Electronic crossover settings for Apogee FR's

Postby dazzdax on Sun Aug 20, 2023 12:48 pm

Hi,

Currently I am using an Accuphase F-20 electronic crossover with the following settings: crossover frequency 320 Hz, slope 12 dB/octave. Do you think these are appropriate settings for the FR's?
Or do you prefer the original settings (400 Hz, 6 dB/octave?).
Another question: Do you think the FR ribbon tweeter can sometimes be "too hot" and needs a bit attenuation (by inserting a resistor in series with the tweeter)? Thank you in advance.

If you are using a second order slope between bass and MR, what are you using between the MR and TW?

Hi Graeme,

How are you doing? Thank you for your reply to my email.
I don't know what are the specifications of the crossover filter for the MR and TW. In this forum I have seen someone mentioning that the TW lower frequency is 3,500 Hz and that the slope is first order.
I can send you some pictures of this external crossover for the MR and TW if you want.
Should the crossover that separates the bass ribbon from the MR/TW ribbon also have a first order slope?
