Hi guys,

Would an acoustat nova twin 200 be able to drive 1 ohm scintillas?

Regards,

Bonne.

Hi Bonne,

I have no first hand experience, but here is a manual where it is specified at 200 watt/8 Ohm and 325 watt/4 Ohm.

Based on these figures, I would say no.

If you want to better these you're looking at pretty serious amps.

Yeah i know. But sometimes i lookout for something less power hungry.

Though i must say this is the best i have heared the scintillas play.
And i have had ksa100, sunfire300x2 hypex encore 400 and ksa250 on them.

Generally an indicator is doubling of power as resistance halves right through to 1 ohm. All these years on Scintillas are a difficult load for even the best of amps, pulling up to 1225w at 1 ohms...

Not looking at prices: Gryphon Mephisto and Apex are specified to 1 Ohm. Pilium Audio has amps claimed to be 1 Ohm stable.
But you can buy a nice car for what they cost.

The kes 100 use about 700 Watts per channel.
So 1400 Watts both. Nice when its already 27 degrees

Hmm nice machines. But costly.
I don't have that kind of money.
Would be nice though.
