New Duetta owner with questions

Postby Ned Racine on Tue May 07, 2013 12:53 pm

I have acquired a pair of damaged Duettas. My skilled tech and I are attempting to resurrect them.

What is the diaphragm material?
How do you shrink or tighten the diaphragm?

Thanks very much for your help

Where are you located? You should get them to a trained installer. That's the only way to get bass panels anyway, and if you aren't trained you are more likely do damage to the new panels than do any real fixing.

We are in FL.
We learned the material is Kapton- bad news.
The woofers are probably unrepairable.
Are the tweeters of value?
Are the crossovers of value?
Thanks

Contact Bill Thalmann at Music Technology. He is the East Coast repair guy. There's a lot of ways you can go. If the Mid and Tweeter ribbons are good, you could get by with just replacing the bass panels, but for them to sound their best, I would replace all ribbons and rebuild the Xovers. They are great speakers even if you don't do a full restoration, but a full restoration will take them to another level. :o
